Portable Syringe Shield

Safe and simple manual transfer of a radiopharmaceutical dose prepared for administration.

The device limits the radiation exposure of staff handling a radioactive solution in a syringe.

It serves as portable secondary shielding for a syringe with a patient dose placed in its primary syringe shield. It can also be used for short-term storage of the syringe in the syringe shield.

Design

A compact unit: cylindrical lead shielding welded into a stainless steel casing with an ergonomic handle. An additional 22 mm lead plate on the handle reduces the dose to the fingers during transfer. The opening at the bottom allows the syringe to be carried with a stopper or a capped needle attached; the space under the shielding is open for easy cleaning.
